So because my car is capable of those numbers means that I must certify it? I can’t just drive it on the street and enjoy it? Or just run 1/8 mile shootouts?

So nothing that is officially sanctioned? Even by the seemingly more liberal WDRA standards chassis cert is required below 9.0 or over 150mph regardless of ET. Running NT doesn't negate that.

You can do whatever you want but just don't classify your car as a street car. No one is telling you not to enjoy it on the street in the literal sense but don't' call yourself a street car just because you can register it and pass emissions. Your car is far past street car power and safety wise.

If these events are taking place at a sanctioned drag strip the track itself risks revocation of their sanction and insurance cancellation if vehicles and persons fail to adhere to the safety guidelines. Private rental, private event, etc doesn't matter. Waivers don't matter. 1/8th or 1/4 doesnt matter.

8s are great. I have a buddy with a tin can evo that should run 8s, runs 9.0 with a 1.8 60’. Literal tin can caged, uncomfortable. Holes drilled everywhere, no door skins. Went ham with a plasma cutter. Rear trunk floor cut out with carbon fiber sheet riveted in. All kinds of stuff required to run what he does. Cage, belly pan, window net. you name it. Lexan side and rear windows, glass windshield. Honda radiator, fuel cell up front, motor cycle battery, single piston calipers with scalloped rotors, chute, drag wing. He competes in all the dsm shootouts.

Built engine, but stock factory style block. Stock transmission still awd, but built gearbox. Stock ECU, no standalone.

His car is registered and guess what? It’s a race car. It’s purpose built to compete, that’s it. Has a liberty dog box. He says as much. It’s a race car.

Could he drive it in the street? Sure, but not safely. Should he? No. Does he? No. Cage and 5 pt harness is not meant to protect you from traffic. Do you drive around with a helmet on on the street? It’s prevent to save you if you go into the wall and flip. Helmets are required so that you don’t smash your Mellon on your roll cage.

if you changed the structural integrity of your car. You have a race car. It’s pretty straight forward, not sure what’s fuzzy about this.

I have no issues with a car that with bolt ons built internals that can go 8s, but doesn’t on the street. I’d say that’s a street car. Structual integrity is in tact, everything works as intended from the factory. Have TBM brakes all around? Race car.

I have a race car I can drive on the street that has everything the factory sent it to me with. I just have a homemade race car that I I can drive anywhere
