Is this true? 2026 Durango RT/392 and Hellcat not available in many states?

So, because of all this Commie/Socialist political nonsense ... did the did value of my '22 DSRT 392 just go up?
Not in the states that they can sell newer ones without having to pay a carbon tax of gas guzzler tax. In those states it hurt your value because you can buy a new one much cheaper than before. $20k cheaper in the DDHC for example.

Gas Guzzler tax is a Fed thing, and there's no GG tax on any version of the Durango (even the DDHC).
And comparing my DD392, in my state there isn't a used one available within ~100 miles of where I live.

I believe you it’s just super confusing how it’s written.

  • Gas Guzzler Tax (GGT): This is a federal tax levied on manufacturers of new passenger cars with an unadjusted combined fuel economy below 22.5 mpg. The Dodge Durango SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat trims are subject to this tax. The GGT applies only to passenger cars, so most SUVs, including the V6 and standard V8 Durango models, are exempt.
  • Carbon Tax: A carbon tax, or carbon pricing, is a broader policy that sets a price on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. While some US states and cities have considered similar policies, none currently apply a direct carbon tax on vehicles. In general, a carbon tax would apply to the combustion of fuels rather than targeting specific inefficient models.

People have started to broaden their horizons and shop out of state(s). I always do nationwide searches when looking for a specific vehicle. It's nice if there's one within 500 miles or so, making it only a 1-day trip, but a few have been bought from 1,000 to 1,600 miles away.

Heck, since there are no dealers within 100 miles of here I couldn't even buy a KIA without exceeding that tiny radius.

I'm surprised you can buy a loaf of bread within a "100" miles of where you are..:oops::oops:;)

I get what you're saying. But CarGurus lists 52 Dodge dealers within 100 miles of me.
I just can't get excited to look farther than that, not even for a DD392.

Yeah, when looked it up I found it a bit confusing as well.
But the original window sticker for my '22 DD392 shows there was no GG tax.

How is that possible?

These days you really can let your fingers do the walking.

Doesn't much matter where the car is, and you can filter options, colors, etc. to keep the list of potential buys shorter.
From there it's only a matter of calling and agreeing on a price, the rest can be handled via email and FedEx. And eventually the transport needs to be arranged, of course.

I'd guess that used ones will end up costing less in a few months once the production of the lower priced '26s begin.

There was no GG tax on my '23 either - purchased in GA & shipped to FL.
