This is great news and a big step in the right direction.

I think the problem is budget and development time. Will be 4 or 5 years I'd think for new products?

The new Charger platform needs to be scrapped and start from a blank slate.

The new charger platform is DOA. They need a sedan and coupe people want, with 6.4 and hellcat offerings. Not going to happen
Who knows what SRT has up its sleeve?
My guess it's going to be something spectacular.

I never "believed":

In global warming
In recycling trash
That we were running out of oil
COVID was natural
COVID was a serious threat (other than a political fascist threat)
In the (undocumented, unquestionable) "science" (consensus :ROFLMAO:) we were supposed to believed
That socialism ever worked, anywhere
Politics is not corrupt
I could go on for days...

I see no path for the investment required to duplicate anything other than a HC truck or Jeep as they have don't even have a platform to start with. Unless they have make a 800hp V8 Hornet! :ROFLMAO:

Sorry.

Stellantis CEO: We really f'ked up! What do we do now?
Stellantis consensus: Try going backward in time!
CEO: Let's do that!

I wonder how hard it would be to just dust off the old platform with some quality of life tweaks and pick back up. Although, they've shuttered all of the assembly plants and presumably all the tooling required so I don't know if that's feasible.

Well, I would presume they'd keep the press molds--those are probably archived and cost $$$ to make.
But, I think the bigger problem is they stopped the supply chain. They could probably retool the factory to reinstate the line (no different than retooling for a different line), but it takes many months to sometimes over a year to get the supply chain flowing for all the parts to arrive.

I don't know the previous gen will get what they need sales wise. Its sorta played out and they need something new.

Having said that a Redeye 170 might carry them a year or two.

I dunno. How many years straight have the Mustang and Camaro continued--even without staying true to their retro styling? Sure maybe the Charger/Challenger are due for a refresh--but if they don't stay true to the retro body lines it might not be as successful.

I think if they come up with something slightly smaller (lighter!) and offer the same range of engines it would be a big hit.

And of course keep offering Hemis in the trucks. Turbo 6s are for other stuff--not big American trucks. Put the Turbo 6 in the minivans, SUVs, high-end sedans, whatever, but don't try to push them on truck buyers.

I agree, a Redeye 170 would likely sell very well--assuming they can keep the price a bit lower and keep away the ADMs.

The problem is they fired all their programmers. That’s why 15-17 lacks with their DC offerings. If they would back port the flex fuel they’d make a lot of money

There has been funny looking people doing some peculiar measurements under the Hood of the new Charger

Foretaboutit!!! Tooling has either been reworked for new production or sold as scrap

There is a better chance that aftermarket parts mfr's (China) will make parts and small U.S. shops will make fixtures and make them one at a time, like the remake Camaros. The old platform is dead and gone. Hell, it was 20 years old when they ended it!

This is all too little and way too late. Do you guys really think the socialists running Stellantis will invest dozens of $BILLIONS$ to make a new platform? Anyone who thinks that has never been in business. The only options they have is to put the engines they have into platforms they have, i.e. Jeeps, trucks and EV's.

Remember how many of us there are. (How many potential customers.) Not many.

Sorry...

It’s going to be racing, maybe some DC stuff, and hyping up a brand for a platform that doesn’t exist. It’s just branding. Wouldn’t be surprised to see SRT on the new charger. But that’s their new one size fits all platform. It’s dead. I’m looking for a 2008 CTSV-coupe, if anyone knows anyone

Also, does anyone really think the eurocrap socialists care about (no need to even consider using the word "respect") performance enthusiasts? They figured we all be thrilled to buy the Hornet!!!

They have absolutely no interest in the U.S. market and they don't understand why the government just doesn't force us to buy what they make, seriously!

The EU has gone totally bonkers and somehow the people accepted it. America, at least to date, doesn't just "accept" things so that whole mantra blew up in Tavares' face. We'll have to see what they do next, but putting Hellcat engines in the new Charger body (that was designed to be an EV) ain't a winning strategy IMO.
