At the dragway last night a local who did Radford with the 170's said the instructor warned him to NOT use ECO!

This is the first I have heard that ECO might be detrimental, and I have not found any further info.

Anyone ever hear anything about this?

Was it don't run hard (race) in ECO, or no ECO ever? No 170 for me, but interested to learn why...

Good point, I'll ask.

But I have to say, out of the 3, the 170 is the most comfortable and quickest, though not as much fun as the M6.

Not sure what you mean.
Maybe that you can choose eco, sport, track (all factory selectable), and maybe cannot wait to get answer.
BUT: That was only my interpretation of what @DGatzby posted.

Sorry to be brief and confusing. I just do not think it is harmful. So I cannot wait for you to ask the tech to clarify himself.;) That is all, no big deal.

I seriously doubt it could be harmful for the car.

If the driver voluntarily selected Eco mode, that's a different story. He may already be beyond help and should be escorted into a Camry.

Just received word that the instructor at Redford said that cylinder deactivation was not good for HC's. I had no idea HC's had MDS. My research, including posts from many of you suggest HC's do not have MDS. I hate to think that a Radford instructor doesn't understand the car.

The Radford instructor does not understand the fundamentals of ANY Hellcat.

Was that one of the instructors, or possibly the new guy in sales? Maybe the receptionist?

And I noticed that they have a couple of 392s, used as skid cars.

This cat obviously doesn’t know the hellcat engines never have had MDS or smoking some wild wood weeds. Did a data log yesterday in Eco no cylinder deactivation.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe the 170 instructor teaching the 170 owner assumed he really owned a 392.

Redford has no idea what they're talking about then because there is no cylinder deactivation in hellcats.

You can delete eco mode altogether so you never even have the choice. I removed it from mine
