It makes sense that they wouldn't use the 6.2 in the 300. Why have two taxis with power?

I guess they are livestreaming it from chrysler.com at 6, countdown timer and all.

But looks to be no real excitement for nothing more than what a base Scat Pack has. Not even an SRT badge as the exports always came with.

September 13, 2022 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler brand is commemorating the nearly 70-year legacy of the Chrysler 300 with the 2023 Chrysler 300C, powered by a 6.4L HEMI® engine with 485 horsepower. The 2023 Chrysler 300C was revealed this evening near the Spirit of Detroit statue in downtown Detroit on the eve of media day for the 2022 North American International Auto Show.

The 6.4L HEMI-powered 2023 Chrysler 300C pays tribute to the Chrysler 300 and the end of an era — Chrysler 300 production will end following the 2023 model year. First introduced in 1955 and reborn in 2005, the Chrysler 300 has represented iconic American luxury and performance for decades.

“We’re celebrating the Chrysler 300 and it’s iconic legacy in the automotive world,” said Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand chief executive officer. “The Chrysler 300 changed the automotive world in so many ways, and we will carry that spirit of ingenuity forward as we transform Chrysler with a fully electrified future and breakthrough customer experiences.”

6.4L HEMI-powered 2023 Chrysler 300C
The 2023 Chrysler 300C honors the 300 model with a special, limited-production run — only 2,000 units will be offered in the U.S. with another 200 available in Canada.

The 6.4L V-8 HEMI engine makes the final version of America’s big, bold sedan even bigger and bolder, generating 485 horsepower and 475 lb.ft. of torque and driving the 300C from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. The 2023 Chrysler 300 can cover the quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 160 mph.

The 392-cu.-in., naturally aspirated engine is paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission that optimizes fuel economy while offering maximum performance with 160-millisecond shifts. Additional performance features include red four-piston Brembo brakes, a 3.09 limited slip differential, active damping suspension and black, rounded exhaust tips that accent an active exhaust system that delivers a muscular, throaty sound.

A new iteration of the tri-color 300C badge dresses up the exterior on the grille and rear decklid, and the 300C rides on 20-by-9-inch forged wheels with all-season performance tires. The exterior carries black chrome accents on the grille and lower fascia, plus black headlamp and taillamp bezels. Three exterior colors are available for the 300C: Gloss Black, Velvet Red and Bright White.

Inside, black Laguna leather front seats are embossed with the new 300C logo and further accented with unique silver stitching. Silver stitching also reaches the doors and leather instrument panel, with carbon fiber and Piano Black touches on the interior bezels.

The 300C packs a premium 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and the 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, comes standard. Advanced brake assist, Lane Departure Warning Plus and Full Speed Collision Warning Plus are just a few of the standard safety features, while comfort features include a heated steering wheel and heated and ventilated front seats.

The 2023 Chrysler 300C comes fully equipped with a U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $55,000. Ordering reservations are available now at reservation.chrysler.com, through a process that features three simple steps: select an exterior color, select a dealer and submit a deposit.

Chrysler 300: Celebrating an Automotive Legend
With roots that include the breakthrough 1955 and 2005 models, the Chrysler 300 has represented style, sophistication and performance for nearly 70 years. Highlights of the Chrysler 300 include:
  • 1950s
    • In 1955, the Chrysler 300 is introduced. The hardtop contains a 300-horsepower HEMI V-8 with solid valve lifters and dual four-barrel carburetors, the most powerful full-size car in the world; the new Chrysler 300 dominates NASCAR
    • 1957 Chrysler brand standard-bearer, the 300C, is equipped with a standard 392-cubic-inch, 375-horsepower HEMI
    • Chrysler 300D sets a Bonneville land speed record in 1958 at 156.387 mph
    • Chrysler 300E arrives in 1959
  • 1960s
    • Chrysler 300F, 300G and 300H debut in 1960, 1961 and 1962, respectively
    • The Chrysler brand continues to produce “style and speed” with the 300J
    • 300K debuts in 1964
    • Chrysler issues last of its 300 letter series cars, the 300L, in 1965; production of the non-letter series 300S continues
  • 1990s
    • 300 nameplate returns to the Chrysler lineup in 1999 with introduction of the 300M, which is named MotorTrend’s Car of the Year in 1999
  • 2000s
    • Introduction of 2005 Chrysler 300 series marks a return to rear-wheel drive and includes the 5.7-liter HEMI-powered 300C model with 345 horsepower; new 300 is named Car of the Year by MotorTrend
    • Adding even more performance, 425-horsepower Chrysler 300C SRT8 features a 6.1-liter HEMI engine and is capable of 0 to 60 mph times in the low 5-second range
    • Additional 300 models within the 2005 to 2010 model-year span include all-wheel-drive versions, the “blacked out” 300S, the 300C and 300C SRT8 Touring models (outside of North America)
  • 2010s
    • 2014 Chrysler 300 SRT features a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 and delivers 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque
    • Chrysler debuts the new Chrysler 300 in 2015, taking the nameplate’s bold style and sophistication to new levels
  • 2020s
    • 2023 Chrysler 300C, powered by the 485-horsepower 6.4L HEMI engine, pays tribute to the Chrysler 300 and the end of an era — Chrysler 300 production will end following the 2023 model year.

They don't make shit there any more, and it's not stellantis' headquarters.... the true significance of has declined immensely along with American auto industry dominance.
Sad once upon a time that city ruled with an Iron Clad Fist. Probably one of the most important cities called upon during WW2. Lots of millionaires, Ornate mansions, most of the average houses in the city were well kept, crime was low. But the city never really recovered from Chrysler pulling out in late 70s. They shut down Dodge‘s Main Monster plant in Hamtramic part of Detroit, also shut down Lynch Road plant once the biggest and most advanced assembly line, originally built for making only Plymouth cars. later the plant also built all the A12 cars there, aka 6Pack lift off hood Super Bee and 6Pack Runners. Shut down Highland park Headquarters where they designed and engineered everything, built new headquarters to the north in Auburn Hills. Chrysler was the largest employer in Detroit, even bigger than Ford or GM. but during the Lee Iacocca restructure to save Chrysler from possible bankruptcy and failing he was forced to close some plants and ask for a massive federal loan to the tune of 1.5 Billion. Yep 1979 1.5 BILLION money, paid the loan back early with interest. Created first mini van brining in big revenue. Unfortunately pounded out little 2.2L shit boxes for a while, to get back on their feet. But it was he that granted green light on Viper, eventually built at Detroit Conner plant and the very first origins of SRT. So I have to ponder if Lee didn’t succeed, would Chrysler have been dissolved if so you can bet your ass the whole SRT line would not have been created. All Dodge fans might want pause in silence for that dude even if only for a few seconds. Just my .02

If money were no object I would buy a Chrysler 300 letter series one for each model year starting in model year 1955 to 1965.
Money is an object so I guess I won’t. Now if they threw the 6.2 cat for the rears and small twin electrics up front with massive combined 4 wheel HP sending a grand finale message I may be impressed and interested.

55k fully loaded. It might be a bargain compared to an equally loaded Scat Pack which is about 59K.

Canadians will get 200 but no price yet and no nifty reservation and ordering system. I wonder if dealers are still able to try to inject ADM here with this system?

Too bad there is no wagon version or I might have seriously considered replacing the 18 year old Magnum with one of these. I think there won't ever be a Magnum-like replacement from anyone that isn't an SUV class vehicle. (short of the Germans but those go for Demon level money)

They should have changed the letter for a limited production Chrysler 300. Maybe call it the 300X?
If a 6.2, it should be called the 300XS! The 300C badge is just too old…and a disservice to the real 1957 Chrysler 300C.

What does Chrysler have to offer in 2024? Assuming rebadged Alfa’s, if not putting the Chrysler name back on shelf?

The heritage listed in the announcement failed to mention the 300H. It makes me think that the foreigners in charge and the marketing team really don’t know the Chrysler heritage
