I have been thinking the same thing. Back in the day when engines had welded stamped parts like steel valve covers, that might be a source.
I have not disassembled a HC engine but I think it's all machined parts. If that is true, it came from outside the engine. Maybe there was splatter on some piece of welded tooling in the factory that got bumped, or maybe someone welded a tool or fixture near any of the engine parts at any of the sub contractors. Or even fell out of someone's sleeve, collar or glove. When you really think about it, it could have come from a lot of places.
I'm guessing every step of the mfg process from raw material to sealed engine is not conducted in a clean room.

Tomorrow after it gets a new set of Eibach springs to wear I will shoot the same picture to see the difference. Damn does this thing have lungs.
I like what I am looking at. In the shit box we have the front OEM’s and the KW rears. The KW fronts are on the car and their life is up. The Eibach springs look stout.
Gave the M6 a wash and the annual wax. After I dried it, within minutes, I could see the green pollen dust on it! Well, just waxed it anyway.
I’m getting old, the arthritis was really acting up while applying the polymer wax. Not sure how much I want to keep doing this. How often do you guys wax? Does anyone do the spray and wipe wax?
I had ceramic done. Its not as perfect as they say, but I can go to the powerwash and blow off dirt and dust and do a quick bucket/brush wash, and blow dry it with my ECO battery blower in just a few minutes.
Installed the HF 12k winch on the HC chariot. That with the tow hook I hope to never have to hire a flatbed. And it will help with the other vehicles and equipment!
