In my experience this idea is the best part for matching engine to transmission torque curve. I've done this many times because I can't say a theoretical computation on paper just didn't show real world results until the TC was tweaked after a build....
Saves money in the long run.
I have one in the Hellcat powered CJ7..but that has a 4L80E.
Why anyone would install a TH400 nowadays doesn't make sense if it's driven on the road.

. Depends on what kind of driving on the road you’re talking about. Around town “street” driving where you don’t go over 60 mph for a continuous stretch, doesn’t need the OD. A bad ass street hotrod that might find itself in Mexico occasionally that doesn’t get used for actual cross country trips. When I was driving mine I had a ratchet shifter in it that was perfect for street use. C3E3B308-FD28-4FFD-AD7D-9ECFC90724DC.jpeg
