Small recommendation. Rubber washer or bushing on the mount, takes out vibrations.

Not a bad idea. I still have to refinish the hole in that fender well that I had to cut for the disposable filter that attaches to the bottom of this thing. That all needs to be cleaned up and repainted. I’ll add a second mounting point for the bracket and find some proper rubber washers when all that happens.

Building an engine capable of spinning 10,000rpm (not going there.. but) takes a lot of work. Weighing and then matching the moving parts… 😵‍💫 We’re talking tenths of a gram. Crank is balanced, block is clean and on the stand and finishing up the rotating assembly. Bearings are next. Another interesting thing coming up 🤓 I’ve decided I’m not doing this shit (at least to start) without a wheelie bar. The new suspension is supposed to keep the front down but I can’t find my written guarantee that this thing isn’t going to launch straight up to the moon when those wastegates close. So…. I’m going to build a special new kinda thing called an off-set single wheel wheelie bar 😎. I bought a build it yourself kit from Quarter-Max. The single wheel is offset to the passenger side. It moderates the hit on the right rear tire where it’s needed the most and of coarse will put a stop to an uncontrolled front end launch. One of the problems I have now with a conventionally mounted wheelie bar is there’s no room for the upper bars because the car sits so low on the rear tire and my fuel system (pumps) are in the way. This new setup is placed lower on the axle and will be parallel to the ground at 6” all the way from directly under the axle to the wheel. Not a lot of these out there yet but I talked to some builders and they say that testing on Pro Stocks and even Pro Mods has proven that they work. No doubt I’ll get some WTF’s 😝 IMG_8358.jpeg IMG_8357.jpeg IMG_8356.jpeg

I've seen a single wheel in the middle, but with offset I'd be worried about 1 rear tire coming off of the ground when the wheelie bar hits. Hopefully they've figured that out.

. Apparently they have. The first job in the science of wheelie bars is to moderate the hit to the right rear tire. That’s why that side of the bar is always adjusted lower. Due to the physics of the way it works, the right tire takes the biggest hit. One of the reasons is because the chassis always torques over to that side. When you watch cars with chalked wheels, the right one leaves a stripe and the left barely does anything. The right side wheel on the bar does 90% of the work. Somebody questioned why a left side wheel was even there if it’s just added weight along for the ride. I didn’t come up with any of this. I was just searching for a center single wheel for wheelie insurance and started seeing this new thing. Way back in my drag bike days…. A proper setup was to have the lower bars parallel to the ground. That made for a softer/smoother hit that allowed riding the bar instead of it kicking back and unloading the tire like a angled bar did. Due to the way my car is configured in the rear, I needed to keep everything (especially the upper bar) as low as possible. The lower bar on this is going to be 6” off the track all the way from the attachments under the axle to the wheel. Ideal wheel hight is between 5” to 6” depending on the length of the bar. It’s adjustable by turning the upper bar. As far as the “offset” goes…. It’s not that much. About 6” to the right of center. Another reason for the single is weight. This one will save about 15 lbs over its two wheel sibling. Here’s a pic of what I’m talking about with a bar that was designed to work with the rear tire at the time…. IMG_3545.jpeg

Are you still running a radial? I dont see this playing nice with a radial tire.

I’ll be doing more small tire (10.5) 1/8 mile class stuff. But also 315 radial. The new suspension is very tunable. Not at all like what I was running so we’ll see.
