Ok, I didn’t want to post all this info because everyone has their own beliefs and I don’t like to debate problems I have solved, but there is a guy on the “bad” forum who seems like a good guy looking for this info and I would like to help him. I refuse to post it there so I am posting it here. So here are my secrets:

My 17” MT ER’s were slipping on the Racestars to the point where they were so out-of-balance the car was shaking like crazy at the end, obviously losing speed because of it. I called MT and they said “some guys use Aqua Net”.

So I bought a can of original (pink) Aqua Net and brought the mounted tires to a local HP shop. I had them remove the tires and I scrubbed the bead of the tires with Awesome cleaner and a scotchbrite pad until they were clean and had fresh rubber exposed. I rinsed them, let them dry then wiped them down with lacquer thinner.

I did the same with the wheels. They were painted wheels so I was careful to clean the bead area without removing too much pant. There were a lot of rubber specks stuck to the wheel that I cleaned off. Then wiped down with lacquer thinner.

I gave the wheels to the shop and had them balance the wheels only, no tires. I marked the placement of the wheel weights and photoed them. Then I gave the shop my wheel weights which were a different color to use to balance after the tires were mounted. Marked and photoed them.

The purpose of this was if the tire slipped, I could shift the “tire” weights without affecting “wheel” balance.

The shop used the Aqua Net as the bead sealer/lubricant and they went on just fine.

I do not know how many runs I have made with these, maybe 30? 40? Most runs in the 10.0-10.2 range, including my best at 9.993. They have not budged!

Problem SOLVED!!!
