Hi All
I have a 2024 Durango 392 Hemi and am wanting a deeper and lower sound out of my exhaust. Has anyone here stepped up to a 3 inch exhaust pipe? If so, what mufflers did you switch out to?

Sean

Kidding me? I have one also, it has one of the best and deepest tones that almost rivals my Redeye. My opinion anyway. Careful not to diminish the back pressure and wind up with less power.

I second DGatzby's comments regarding potential back pressure concerns. IMHO this is something many overlook when fiddling with the OE exhaust in all the modern MOPAR V8s.

Personally - just my biased personal opinion - I consider the stock system to be darn near perfect, in its low rumble and idle and cruise, and its beautiful roar at WOT.

Looking forward to driving it more later today. Have not driven it much. At the “touch-free” now and will take it home for a well deserved good wipe down. They sound so good it helps because still cannot get the car out due to the temps.

I was looking at Direct Connection because I had heard there were going to be stage kits for the 392, but it looks like they aren't going to happen because the info on DC is gone. So I was checking out other bolt-ons and saw the "Performance Exhaust" ( 2011-2025 Dodge Durango Cat-back Exhaust System 77072487 | Direct Connection ). Anyone have experience with this exhaust system? It shouldn't have any issues with the aforementioned pressure pulses. Is it basically the same as what's on the SRT 392? Looks to be only 2.75 inches. I would like a deeper sound for my 392 but not a drone like I had in the Challenger that had the resonators removed. What options worked for the OP?

I bought the Direct Connection kit for the DDSRT (mfg. by Borla from what I have found) in 2019 after taking delivery, and it is STILL in the box on a shelf 6 years later and counting. Every time I think about installing it I am reminded how good the OEM exhausts on these G3 Hemi's are. With that said, I will probably get around to it eventually because I really need to free up some storage space, and I believe will shed some pounds from that huge OEM suitcase muffler.

My 5.7 has less than 1600 miles right now before driving round trip to PRI and I'm ALREADY scheduled to head to Solo Performance on the 15th to be fitted up with one of their kits. They officially Don't offer one for the modern Durango as a whole or the 5.7 ones specifically but they will be after mine. They can build one for the 392/hellcat already and it is 90-ish percent complete. Last tweaks will be to midpipes up front and clearance checks.

Have their Cyclone on my Charger hellcat. Wasn't even a debate as to where I'd go for this vehicle.

Wow, I hadn't heard or seen much about Solo on the forums in a long while - I put their kit on my Hellcat shortly after I bought the car and absolutely love it to this day! They were great to work with and did some minor customizing for me, all long-distance, and nailed it - fit like a glove when I went to install it. Hope they're doing great.

They're still going at it. Looks like they still have the main shops in mississauga and kenmore (where I'll be at) and have added a couple.

Steve is still a riot on the phone and Jeff is great to deal with. Supposed to be cutting me a deal for being the last test vehicle (and first 5.7) before public release. There will be clips of course.

The idea that back pressure is at all helpful is a myth that's been fully debunked.
What you really want is to have your scavenging tuned well. Most any change after the cats won't affect that at all.
I highly recommend Belanger products--this is what they do best.

I have not done this myself, but leaving the resonators at the rear and removing the mufflers more towards the middle of the car apparently gives much more sound but still controls drone. I would like to experiment but I work at 3am and can't do that to my neighbors who all already say they hear my car starting and know know it's 2:55am every morning ;)
