Only one place I buy donuts. It's a half-hour drive, and I only buy their sour-cream, and cherry fry cakes.

There's a shop like that here - thankfully ~ 40 minute drive else I'd be there WAY to often !

We had a short-term, local donut shop a couple miles up the road. I had probably the best donut ever, there. All super quality...
large frycake
great maple frosting
killer broken up bacon.
Good Lord, those things were tasty. It's probably a good thing they aren't there anymore.
I took a dozen to a family gathering, and everybody turned their nose up to them. My ex BIL, broke one up for a couple people to try....30 seconds later, they were all gone.

A bit off topic, but....
We used to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Reynoldsburg Ohio, for the NATS.
Their breakfast included great cinnamon rolls. I took two, shoved 4 strips of bacon between them....and had the best breakfast sandwich ever.

Excellent. It'd be hard to measure-up to the ones I had [maple-bacon]. Seriously...

Funny, I love certain things, and generally not sweets. I do get a dozen of those donuts I posted about, probably 3-4 times a year. Otherwise, not interested at all.

Fortunately, I'm not a sweets guy, but some things are just 'ya gotta do it". I'm big, but it's from down-time, from many surgeries and lack of portion control of things that are really good. I have lost about 75lbs in the last year, though. Need to lose another 75.
