Counterfeit Spark Plugs?!

yep 1st heard this many years ago why I wont buy them off of amazon. I have been buying mine at rockauto

Last set I ordered I sent photos to NGK to confirm they were legit.
NGK has a dedicated webpage and email address to help authenticate parts.

My last post was before I even started watching the video so I had no idea rockauto was even brought up

I saw a video many years ago about the box difference of the NGK. Truly sad how much stuff has fake versions
I was looking for 3 bar maps sensors for my car and there were some lower prices on amazon for them. I found the best price at a dealer online and went that route
Thing is the factory sensors are made in china, is there a worse place to make fake ones

So my feedback on the video is that while the overall concept of there being counterfeit sparkplugs was communicated, I got completely lost on which plugs were which and at the end could only discern that Rockauto was a good source along with one Amazon source, but during the video, which plug was which was confusing as hell...

Totally agree. Felt like watching one of those street hustlers moving cups around... where's the acorn?
Wish he had labelled each spark plug not just try to keep them sitting in the same position relative to the others...

Last time I looked, NGK had a page on their site on how to tell genuine from counterfeit.

Also the NGK for our cars don't have anything on the strap. This is straight from NGK website

I love Rockuto, ebay is a dumping ground. I am surprised about AMZN.

Original valid products made in China are extremely easy prey to counterfeiting. When a tool wears out and is replaced, where do you think it goes? When a die shop makes a tool for a OEM, what happens to the electrode that made the die? It is sooo easy for tools, dies and other equipment to fall into counterfeiters hands, who are literally down the street. China doesn’t care about you, us, U.S., they don’t care about patents, spyware, they have agents in all our military contractors, AND, hell, they won’t even help us secure their oil shipments through the Straight.

It is the wild west, don’t expect it to get better anytime soon, or ever. This is one of the reasons dealers charge 2-4x what we pay, they need to stand behind the job.
