Some quick background: I sold my SS several weeks ago and bought a '19 Scat Pack as it's place holder until I decide what(if..) I'm going to replace it with. Nice car, 50k miles, clean CarFax.

The other day the granddaughter and I make a quick run to the store in it. When I get there I realize I have no key fob with me to lock the doors. So we go in and do our thing and when we come out to head back home it fires right up again and off we go. No issues, no buzzers, no "fob not present" warnings at all.
So my question is how is this possible? I would have never guessed that there even was a way to bypass the fob, let alone that I would actually end up owning a car that's this way.

Anyone got any experience with this?

Did you turn it off with the idea you needed to find a ride or call home to get your key when you got back to your car?

Catless - I've done a pretty good preliminary search for another fob somewhere in the car. I can't find it if it's there. Also, and I don't know if this really means anything, but it will lock the doors with a fob from the outside. I *think* the car won't lock itself if it senses a fob inside the car? I don't know that for a fact though.

Silverbullet - I didn't realize I didn't have the fob with me until the car was shut off and I was outside of it about to lock the doors. I didn't even have my cell phone w me since it was just a quick trip a mile down the road to get some stuff at Dollar General. So at one point I'm thinking if it doesn't start I'm going to have to go in and bum the phone at the store.. and hope I could remember my wife's cell number. lol

There is a setting where it will lock the doors with a fob inside. We had the challenger in the dealership years ago for something and had a new jeep loaner. Teresa locked the fob inside the jeep by accident

After more in depth searching I found another fob inside the car.
That turned out to be an easy enough fix. lol
Plus, now I have an extra fob.

Was it under the seat or between the seat and console by chance.
I have lost my phone and keys on launch at the track many times. That's where I keep finding mine. once the fob was under the edge of the rear mat. That took awhile to find. LOL

Yes, between the passenger seat and the console. I now have a scratch on my hand from shoving it down in there. I can't help but wonder how long it's been there.

I can relate to the scratching of the hand. It took me a few times to realize,e if I adjusted the seat I could cause less harm. LOL
