In 2005....I bought 2 Yamaha 50cc scooters...(2 strokes)..one for me ..one for my wife..another couple we are friends with bought them as well....now all four of us ride motorcycles also but these are just cool little things...(not Chinese junk)...we would take them to Gettysburg yearly for the reenactment....they are awesome..up on the sidewalk...in and outta traffic...great for congested events...stock they did 30...we took the exhaust restrictors out...tweaked the carbs...and they now do a tad over 40....well our friends moved..and we used the scooters less and less...last week my wife got the bug to ride them again...the last time we registered them was in 2018....now they have been stored in a heated garage ....1/2 a tank of gas with the batteries in them..well she pulled the batteries out put them on a 2.5amp light charge for three days...(really small batteries)....put em in hit the starter...and with 7 year old gas (10% ethanol)...the freakin things started up...both of them...exhaust stunk like rotten eggs...but they ran....even with 7 yr. old yamaha 2 stroke oil...today I drained the tanks...(and the oil)...replaced the plugs.. oil..and air filter...and they run like new...old gas was the color of maple syrup...and the carbs were not gummed up....now they have 1 3/4 gall of 90 non ethanol...and half a gal 100 octane..and a couple ounces of seafoam...I always run my Cats low on fuel before winter storage...I'm not gonna worry bout stale gas anymore...

That's great. I think it depends on location, climate of storage, and fuel keeps changing and getting shittier. I have to run certain things outta fuel for storage, additives for others, and just hopeless for some stuff that sits. Batteries can be a major concern, also. I run at least a dozen maintainers over the winter, and on cars I don't use.
Scooters can be fun and useful. I have a 2018 Yamaha S-Max, 155cc, pitbike/useless highway scooter. I haven't used it in 2 years. It only has about 400 miles on it.

Very cool story. Good for you. Some of us are about ready to go buy some of those electric assist bikes soon for the same type of riding.

I had the opposite experience. I had to pull the carb and completely go through it on my pit bike crazy cooler last fall after it sat 3 years. I even put stabil in it and had non ethanol fuel.

Ill never store anything with fuel in it again even with stabil.

The choices are endless. It is nuts trying to figure out what to buy.

When I bought mine they were fazing out 2 strokes...I got two of the last ones I could find...figured I'd stick with a Yamaha....I'll never sell em..my buddies are already askin to borrow em as pit bikes...and they are light as a feather

new in the crate in 2009
Imported 1 year only to the USA
Ran it for 2 hours
Drained the fuel
I have tried not starting it since.
