You probably have 80' pine trees like we do, and you don't need to actually be "under" them as the wind will push the fat sap drops 10-20'. And the only thing that will get it off is lacquer thinner! And if you don't take it off, it'll eat the urethane clear coat!!!

Occasionally the dog will have sap on her, need to cut the clump of fur off!
My father used to park in the back yard under the pine trees...it absolutely ruined the paint job on his Caddy

Out of total boredom, decided to make a license plate frame using a Hellcat badge I had lying around and a scrap piece of aluminum plate. Not sure why I did this as polishing aluminum is one of the dirtiest jobs in the world! Untitled.jpg

Lacquer thinner
Yikes

Rubbing alcohol will remove the sap & leave your paint intact

The wife came home from a 2 week trip up north with a bunch of pine sap on the hood/roof/trunk of her car.
Said she couldn't remember when it happened  grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I got a lot of it off with straight car soap & some bug remover, but it had etched in in places.
Detailer dude said best thing to try is hand sanitizer - has soap to lube things up & alcohol to soften & remove the sap. Just don't let it dry on the paint !!

He had to wet sand some to get rid of the marks which were very baked in & a few he couldn't remove entirely as he didn't want to sand too much on the thin Infiniti paint.

I have more problems removing baked on bugs then sap
My truck is usually covered in both
My clothes are stained
Windows are spotted
My rider seat sticks to my ass
Anything I leave outside for an hour usually has sap on it

I use rubbing alcohol & a couple pieces of TP for each spot
If you don t change the TP a lot you will just spread the sap around

The 2 or 3 year old spots usually get brittle & flake off if you pick at them

Joys of living in what use to be a Christmas tree farm

Have you considered buying or renting a chainsaw?

Although I'd probably rent a bulldozer instead. Chainsaws are noisy and dangerous.

I didn’t realize just about any tree can drop a sap mist until I parked my then new HC under one for a couple hours at a car show. It left a gritty feel to the paint. Clay bar took care of it. Finish was actually better after the clay barring than before.

Lacquer thinner won't hurt modern urethane clearcoat. Just wax after cleaning,

Passed biannual emissions testing and renewed my tags

For the record I totally hate doing this

Now to decide if I want to actually install the latest parts I have or want on the car and get it tuned again

Would have to plan to move before the next tag renwal and just cannot figure how that would be done currently

EPA is suing Commiefornia over their emissions standards, citing they cannot dictate state emissions over Federal Emissions. Nor can they impart those stricter standards to other states, as a baseline for their testing.

If Commiefornia falls, they all fall.

Commiefornia is not currently in line with Feds and if you remember, Feds recently got rid of CAFE standards. This plays heavily into the suit currently at hand.

https://www.kbb.com/car-news/america-now-effectively-has-no-fuel-economy-rules/

HR 4117 is the basis for the suit against Commiefornia.

Totally get that....theae hippies up here will never get rid of the revenue no matter what happens any time soon.

Here is what I got back from an inquiry to my delegate

"
Currently, the State Air Pollution Control Board dictates what counties are required to do emissions testing.
The State Air Pollution Control Board also follows air quality requirements that are set by the federal Clean Air Act.

Unfortunately, this means that the State's hands are relatively tied when it comes to emissions regulations.
With the growing population of Stafford County and subsequent increase in traffic volume, I don't see a way that it can be changed unless the federal air quality requirements under the Clean Air Act are altered:

CAA changes under review will NOT change the 6 limited counties in the whole God-forsaken state requirements.

Credit goes to @vortecd for slapping me and reminding me how well this works on bugs a couple of times. The credit for the scientific stuff below is from my new hairless asshole electronic friend ChatGPT.

Mix 1/2 hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 water in a spray bottle. Apply liberally to the bugs. Wait five minutes as the hydrogen peroxide attacks the bug proteins and exoskeleton.

So basically:

1. The bugs’ proteins and enzymes catalyze the breakdown of H₂O₂.
2. Oxygen bubbles form → they foam and lift the softened bug residue off your car surface
3. You’re left with just water and loosened debris that rinses away.

It’s the same reason hydrogen peroxide fizzes when you put it on a cut — your blood and tissue enzymes kickstart that bubbling reaction.

Result: Once it’s done fizzing, there’s nothing left behind but water and a little oxygen that escapes into the air. No sticky residue, no chemicals lingering on your car. That’s why it works so cleanly — it attacks the bug proteins and then vanishes.

Now go make those Challengers clean and slick as we slice thru the air! @BULL is this a wiki item we should have?

Don’t be as stupid as I was last month when I forgot about everything about hooking the tuner up.

Today I drove mine into the center of New Somalia to see some friends who live in town. Since I can watch it and he lives in a fairly reasonable location we drove it in tonight. Sun is hitting it just right so you all get to see another pic of it.
