Hello everyone,
Got a 21 SRT and Noticed today that the intake temps were hitting 150 degrees. Now compared to my Scat pack which I installed the Hellcat Lower and intake tube on it , if it's 80 degrees outside , the intake is 83-85 degrees. I also have a Hellcat factory air filter in the box. It's a Charger 2020.

So with that being said, what are you guys doing to lower intake temps? That's amazingly high for a pretty low humidity 80 degree evening here in Lower Bucks PA.
Is there a hellcat Lower and setup for the SRT? Should I start considering going aftermarket with a closed system like a AFE? I really don't like what I saw there and especially since it has the Hellcat SRT style hood with the air vents releasing heat.

Another thing I noticed, I use to own a R/T Durango and it use to get air from the front as well as the bottom, The SRT is blocked off where the R/T Intake has a inlet tube.

Lets talk intake mod's and what can be done to lower intake temps.

Thanks guys.

Dan

I watched a few videos on DDHC models and the only visible difference I saw was the Hellcat has some kind of resonator connected to the intake tube whereas the SRT does not.

I know CAI systems do not yield alot more horsepower, I do know high intake temps lower horsepower. So my idea is to find a CAI system that lowers intake temps and retains the power I have.

I can't seem to find any good threads on this topic , I'm gonna keep digging but maybe someone can provide a link to a goo thread or some good advise on this topic.

Thanks ,

Dan

I live in bucks county as well. It’s been extremely humid out lately it’s not just the temperature. The past few days we have been dealing with haze from wildfires as well. The cats I noticed get pretty heat soaked especially not moving in 80+ weather with lots of humidity. Here’s an idea if you just want to have fun take the car out in the very early morning. Last weekend it was 60 degrees in the morning today it’s 67. I notice my gt500 even with a similar open element as my Redeye stays very close to the air temperature just like your scat. The cat is just a different animal plus the gt500 has that huge vent outlet in the hood the air flows out through which helps a ton. The hellcat is great at pushing air into the engine bay not so much getting it out.

I'm not a huge aftermarket intake guy. I tried a JLT on the Scat pack which was a series 2 and it made my car slower. It's a factory stock car with only a Hellcat lower , intake tube and Hellcat filter. I have ran 11.7 @ 117 MPH with it with a 1.6 60ft . All I did was put a Nexen 275/40R20 Drag Raidal on it on a set of 20x9.5 Hellcat Warp Speed wheels. With the JLT intake I could not get out of the 12's to save my life in good D/A good Temps and low humidity at Atco Drag Way before they closed. With the Hellcat Setup , I have ran multiple 11 second passes in different D/A , higher Humidity and higher temps and still stayed in the 11's.

I now race at Maple Grove raceway park which I do not like more than Atco , but what other options do we have Cecil? I plan on checking that track out but for now Maple Gove is ok.

The Durango's intake temps even with the current weather conditions still heat soak very fast and are 20-30 degrees all the time over ambient. I do not like that and want to figure out what I can do about it. I may try the AFE monument GT which again not a real fan of aftermarket intakes but I'm willing to give it a go especially if it works, it's closed construction and lower intake temps help with ET's at the dragstrip.
