I have a 2016 Dodge Ram 5.7 BigHorn edition. Class IV receiver and this is the following tow rating:
1670723581733.png
I have a 5.7" Box and it is 4x4, 8HP70 with the 3.21 gears. I also have aftermarket airbags installed from AirLift with integrated compressor, they are very nice. I am capped at 8010 based on this chart. I've been looking for an enclosed and my racing buddy will let me keep it at his property and of course he gets to use it when I am not racing. I am looking at this a Cynergy 8.5x24 Black 10K GVW with a 6’6” Interior Height. This is from a good local reputable place that recommended the 10k and 24' based on how little room there will be once the hellcat is in there.

So a couple of questions for the members, does anyone else use an enclosed that is smaller than 24' with our hellcats, how much room do you have? Does anyone have experience with Cynergy brand? The hellcat with half a tank and me in it weighed 4505 at VMP I'm over estimating at 4600. So that leaves 3400lbs left. If the trailer weights close to 3k I might be looking at an open car hauler.

I’ve called about 5 places for an enclosed trailer in the last 2 days. I would not go smaller than 24. You will some sort of tools and wheels in the front
Also no question you need the 5k axles

I would try not to max it out. More important, being able to stop.

If you get an enclosed trailer, make sure to get one with the escape door in the left side so you can open your car door to get out after you pull in. it's worth the extra money.

If you get an open deck, make sure it has the removable left fender for the same reason mentioned above.

Somewhere on the Ram website you can put in your vin and it will give you your maximum tow capacity.

Half ton with the 3.21 gears doesn't have the capacity to pull anything except an open trailer. 3.91 with a posi will help.

I had a 1500, etorque, 3.91 posi, small cab with the short box and it wasn't enough to pull an enclosed trailer with the Charger anywhere but local. Ram said it could but it would of killed the truck in my opinion.

I argued with people that the 1500 would pull it but soon realized that it could, but not safely.

Phase Hemi used to pull his enclosed aluminum trailer with cabinets in it all over with a ram 1500 and the challenger inside.

It can be done but not the best scenario.

your truck with a closed in trailer in a head wind you will wish you bought an open deck.

I agree def don’t want to be anywhere near the max tow rating with a half ton.

I figured that trailer, car, gear and people comes out to 12-13K lbs. This is with an aluminum trailer. Add another 2.5 - 3K for a steel frame unit.

Not 1500 territory in my opinion.

24' enclosed will be 4400lbs easy, (3400-3600 if aluminum)

Mine was 4400

Put a Challenger in it and basic stuff like fuel, tires, tools etc and you're going to be at 10,000.

My 2500 Ram 6.4L with 4.10 gears could do it, but I would not want to take on any real grades with it!

That same rig on a 5.7L with 3.21s? Seems like too much to me.

How far, how often and up any real mountains will make the real difference in success or failure.

BTW, my Ram is only rated at 8,100 because if the Power Wagon suspension (Very soft) but the same truck without the off-road springs is supposedly rated at over 10k...

Almost none of the trailer side doors are low enough to open your car door. You will have to build up the floor to raise the car a few inches or get the aluminum trailer $$$ like Dave K has with the gull wing door and a removable fender. In any case, you need an open trailer. The 3.21 rear kills you. If you expect to tow on interstates at 70+ mph, you should still plan to get the adjustable load distribution hitch and maybe the additional anti-sway device.

Agreed on the height issue.
