Many times personal experience wins out over a Google search.

How many different answers do you think you'll get from personal experience ? Do you take your best guess on which one has the correct answer ?

It will keep for up to 2 years from date on the can. After that it slowly degrades.

Here is what VP says.

The length of time the fuel will stay fresh in a sealed drum depends on the fuel itself. A non oxygenated fuel such as C12 should be used within a couple years. I personally have tested some that was eight years old and was fine. As far as an oxygenated fuel I would like to see these fuels used within a year or so. This way you know the oxygen content is still within spec. Both oxygenated and non oxygenated fuels will most likely last longer than I have stated, but I feel that to ensure the best performance following these recommended guidelines will be to your benefit.

Keeping it off concrete floor like on a pallet and away from swinging temps it will do better, so I've heard.

What ACMAVRO said is true.

Keep at in a constant mid temperature off of a concrete floor, also it keeps better in a full sealed metal can then a plastic jerry can.

It's absolutely fine. I would knock your socks off in disbelief if I told you how old of race gas I have used in the past with no issues whatsoever, but I am OCD about proper storage though. Same thing for oil - a lot of myths out there with the internet experts.

How hot? That will accelerate chemical breakdown.

Even so, not like it will cause the car to blow up, just will not get every last percentage point out of the fuel when you burn it.

About three weeks ago the 200-gallon tank with ethanol free 91 octane ran out. Needed to fill up a couple of small vehicles and grabbed three good (air tight) 5-gallon metal cans from the garage.

Put some Star Tron in them, since I've had very good luck with it, let them sit over night and then dumped one can into a Can Am. With some apprehension, since they seem to be picky about gas.

Later in the day my girlfriend commented (unsolicited) on how much better hers started. Great, I thought, now I know what to do with the contents of the other six cans of regular gas that has been sitting in a cabinet since I got the more convenient 200-gallon tank. Which was about six years ago.

I have some Sunoco 100 that is about 3 years old and it works just great in my snowblower, lawn mower, weed whacker, and my neighbors 20 year old pressure washer. I believe that it last a long time in a sealed container.

And you don't need to guess.......my answer is the best one on the interwebs :p:p

Sorry.....couldn't resist based on the comment above about which one would you believe to be the best ;)
