So I have this question posted, Is the stock box with a drop in cloth filter as good as a CAI?
IMO, if your motor is stock, all you’ll gain from a drop-in cotton filter is more dirt being ingested. With a CAI, more noise and dirt.

So I take it your not a fan of the drop in oil/cloth filters? I have often heard that the more dirt captured on them the better they perform.

They don’t filter as well as paper no matter how dirty a cotton gauze gets, and like someone else posted, the stock filter has plenty of flow for stock motors. That said, there are plenty of stories of cars going well past 100K with cotton filters.

A lot of folks are OCD about oil filters, but air filters are more important from a longevity standpoint. If you don’t live in a dusty environment cotton is probably fine.

Dodge took away a lot of that low hanging fruit (CAI, exhaust mods) that were found on so many earlier vehicles.
