I purchased a new 2024 Durango SRT AWD with 27 miles on it on 10/30/25. It was a "hail damage" car, with so far as I can see only 3 very slight hail dents. They told me that the warranty started at the date the dealership purchased it from Dodge. They could not show me any paperwork documenting when the dealership purchased it. So the official warranty start date on my Durango is 7/1/24. Interestingly, that is also the vehicle build date on the VIN sticker. Is this the proper and correct warranty start date?

No, it starts the day it’s put into service by the purchaser. They’re lying or stupid.

Definitely not! My warranty for my Charger(s), Jeep and Durango all started on my purchase dates. I would say, unless you are not the original owner, yours starts on 10/24/25. Otherwise it would be on the date the first owner signed the contract. I would fight them on it.

If the OP registers, signs in, and then adds his vehicle. It will state when the factory warranty ends. It should be 3 years after the purchase date (5 years for the drivetrain). If it's different, the dealer is playing games.

Day the car is sold to someone. When the certificate of origin is transferred to a title.

I called Dodge customer care. They told me that the "Standard Warranty Date" is 7/24/24 for my car. I asked to talk to her supervisor. She said she could not transfer me to a supervisor, provide the name of the supervisor, or provide any phone numbers or extensions. I explained that the dealer told me that the start date of the warranty would be the date that the vehicle was purchased by the dealer from Dodge, but that they then put the build date, 7/1/2024 as the start of the warranty. She said I would have to talk to the dealer about it. I asked to have the incident escalated, and she said she would escalate it to the next level in order to acknowledge my concern.

I did, but when I click on the "FlexCare Vehicle Protection" link under that car, it just times out.

I am not. But they will not provide any documentation proving that.

Bull... it has to have been registered. or at least a transfer of title.
I am betting they transferred the title for insurance claim.

I think they have to? they can not sell you a car unless they show the title history?
Not a lawyer but bought used and new cars and this is not normal.

Sorry, I had the number 24 stuck in my brain. It was purchased on 10/30/25.

File a complaint with your state's AG. That sometimes gets things moving.

No way you should loose a year off your warranty when you buy a new vehicle. They should be willing to make it right for you. There’s something funny going on there.

Also, if there is one year less on your warranty, it affects the value of your vehicle right now…

I did, but when I click on the "FlexCare Vehicle Protection" link under that car, it just times out.
When I look at my ‘22 JGC after clicking on the vehicle and scroll down, the page that comes up displays the expiration date of the factory warranty and my MaxCare warranty dates. FlexCare is a Mopar extended warranty that has to be purchased.

At the end of the day let’s hope you don’t need it.

I'm not sure why you proceeded with the purchase if there was already a discrepancy over the warranty start date before you even signed the papers. Regardless, this is clearly not a normal purchase. If you got a great deal on the car because of the hail damage then the price of that deal was a shorter warranty.
